VAIO Corporation — erstwhile part of Sony, sold last year to Japan Industrial Partners — is about to make its Smartphone debut. A recent announcement by the company indicated that the the “VAIO Phone” which will be the company’s first step in this direction, will soon be launched.
The device — which will be launched in Japan via b-mobile — features a 5-inch IPS LCD display. There is a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor that works with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. Camera wise, there is a 13 MP rear cam along with a 5 MP front snapper. The device runs on a 2,550 mAh battery that according to the company will see it through a full day.
Doesn’t the above spec sheet seem a little too familiar? Well that just means you have heard of Panasonic’s Eluga U2. VAIO’s debut basically mirrors the Eluga U2 to the point of being almost identical. In fact, the only difference lies in the price and here too the VAIO Phone lags rather than leads with its tag of 51,000 yen ($420) which is just a tad more expensive than the Eluga U2.
Well, we might just witness a head to head confrontation between the Eluga U2 and the VAIO Phone and as to who will emerge the victor? Only time will tell.
