After releasing its first mobile game, Air Patriots earlier today, Amazon has now announced the launch of its Cloud Drive Photos for Android app, making it even easier to upload, store, share and enjoy photos directly from Android phones and tablets. The app gives 5 GB of free storage, and you can have thousands of photos at your fingertips in the Amazon Cloud. And if 5GB doesn’t cut it for you, additional storage can be purchased for as little as $10 a year for 20GB.
It’s quite simple to save photos from your Android device to Cloud Drive Photos. Simply press and hold on an individual photo or a photo album on your Android phone, and select Upload to Cloud Drive. No auto-upload functionality like Google’s own Instant Upload is present currently.
Using the app is fairly straightforward. When you first sign in, you’re prompted to use your Amazon.com account details – there is no other option to sign up directly from the app, or login using your email or Facebook credentials. At the top of the screen, there are two buttons: one which lets you access photos you have uploaded to the cloud, and the other shows you photos stored locally on your device. Once uploaded, photos can be zoomed in on, and flipped through like they are in the native gallery app. Users can also share them via Facebook, Twitter, SMS, Email or through other apps you may have installed, including Google+ and even Dropbox!
Cloud Drive Photos is a functional photo storage and sharing app, and it delivers what it promises very well. Free photo storage and sharing – nothing more, and nothing less. Cloud Drive is already integrated with Amazon’s own Kindle Fire HD tablet, and Amazon has now made it available for the broader world of Android devices to use freely.
Amazon Cloud Drive Photos is available as a free download from the Play Store. If you are looking for a simple and robust photo-storage and sharing app, without too many bells and whistles, get Amazon Cloud Drive Photos by hitting the download button below.
