The upcoming successor to the HTC One X, the One X+, will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box as well as the latest version of Sense, Sense+. While the One X will also be getting an update to Jelly Bean and Sense+, the official update is still a few weeks away, but thanks to the development community, One X owners can unofficially get both on their phones right now.

XDA Recognized Contributor Football has ported Jelly Bean and Sense 4+ to the One X with his popular One maXimus custom ROM, from the official One X+ Android 4.1 ROM, allowing custom ROM flashers to update to the latest HTC ROM, bringing new features such as an enhanced Gallery app, ability to go back directly to camera app after locking and unlocking screen, smoother home launcher, better multitasking, and more.

There are a few prerequisites that must be met before flashing the ROM however. The ROM can only be flashed on devices having a particular CID version, and also needs updating to a new HBOOT version. The procedure is a bit complex relocking and unlocking the bootloader, which means your data will also get wiped and will have to be backed up.

But no gain without a bit of pain, right? So head over to the source page to get the details on the ROM as well as the procedure to install it, so that you can get a taste of the official HTC Android 4.1 ROM on your One X. Do let us know how it works!
