Mr. Froyo, aka Android 2.2 is ready to make its way into Samsung Captivate, so all those Captivate owners who thought they were left behind in the Android upgrade race have something to cheer about. Captivate hit the market chewing onto Éclair (Android 2.1) and stayed with it when Vibrant and Epic 4G are running brilliantly with Froyo (Android 2.2) and are looking forward to dig their teeth into Gingerbread (Android 2.3). Captivate is as good as any other Smartphone, with 1 GHz processor, Hummingbird chipset, a Super AMOLED display, but AT&T needs to keep up with Verizon and T-Mobile with devices like Captivate and Aria. The market wouldn’t wait for super-phones to upgrade their operating system, especially when the competition is cut throat.
