Samsung has announced their new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+. And unlike last year, there is no Galaxy S8 Edge this time. The Edge moniker is no more.

Last year, the regular Galaxy S7 did not have an edge screen. Only the larger screen version had an edge screen, and it was similar the year before. That’s the reason Samsung used the Edge name for the Galaxy S7 that had a larger screen with curved edges on both sides.
With the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Samsung has included the edge display on both the devices. Therefore, they cannot use the Edge moniker anymore. Both the S8 and S8+ have larger screens as well, with rounded corners.

And that’s why there is no Galaxy S8 Edge this year, and that’s a good thing. Now you can have the awesome edge screen in two different sizes. It is highly likely that Samsung will continue this trend with the next Galaxy smartphones.
