Back in March 2018, T-Mobile announced that it would begin rolling out support for RCS Universal Profile to open the door into the future of modern messaging in Q2 2018. This did happen, but it was only limited to two devices – Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

At the time, T-Mobile said that it will continue rolling out RCS Universal Profile support to more devices over time. Well, it appears that users of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are now receiving a new update that adds support for this messaging technology. With the update installed, you will be able to send bigger files of up to 100MB, including full-size photos and even enjoy group chats, you know, just like Telegram, WhatsApp and other instant messaging apps.

Also, the update comes carrying the latest Android security patch for the month of October 2018 and the usual stability improvements and bug fixes. Being an OTA update, it will take time before all Galaxy S8 and S8+ units on T-Mobile get the download notification, so be patient.
The update has software version G950USQU5CRIB for the S8 and G955USQU5CRIB for the S8+ and weighs about 400MB, so be sure to get a stable Wi-Fi connection to download and install it.
