Software update for T-Mobile HTC 10 which comes as build 2.41.531.3, has finally started rolling out bearing the January security patch. If that wasn’t enough, the update weighs in on the hefty side at 650MB. Although the update contains various enhancements, optimizations and bug fixes, it still doesn’t justify the size of the OTA update.
T-Mobile has rolled out the Nougat update on January 4 — something which Sprint HTC 10 sets received only by February 20 — so it was about time a bug fixer update that also carrier newer security patch was rolled out.

The current update still keeps the users on Android 7.0 which is a little disconcerting seeing as even top mid-rangers like OnePlus 3, 3T and ZTE Axon 7 are receiving their 7.1.1 update. The current update finally brings T-Mobile users on par with unlocked HTC 10 users who received their January security update in, well, January itself.

HTC is known for their ROM development scenario but seeing their last year’s flagship receiving irregular security and system patches is worrying indeed. Nevertheless, knowing HTC, the OEM will likely pick up on updates, that is, if the mobile carriers let them.
