If there’s one thing that the Devs over at FromSoftware know how to do well, it would be the boss fights in their games. Well, the Devs nail a lot of the other Aspects too in their epic RPGs, but it’s the boss fights that really flesh out the experience. That gives even veterans in the Souls Trilogy and now in Demon’s Souls a run for their money.

Now don’t get us wrong, we know that you’ve probably had a bad run-in with these Boss Fights. That’s what we’re gonna help you with – to get better at dealing with certain Bosses in the Demon’s Souls game. To actually, get good.

Prepare before facing the Storm King in Demon’s Souls

The Storm King is a pretty daunting Boss that you face in Demon’s Souls. You’ll come across this fight with Storm King in World 4-3 which is known as the “Old Hero Archstone”. You’ll know that you’ve reached the right place when you’ll be in a stormy clearing and his health bar will show up on your screen.

Now whether your character’s ranged or melee, you’ve got to prepare a few things before the fight can actually begin. So let’s get started with them:

Avoid the green shards the smaller enemies are chucking at you from above and run towards the back of this area down below. You should find the Storm Ruler sword here.

Make sure that your item load is sufficiently empty enough for you to be able to pick up the sword, or you’ll get the ‘exceed capacity’ message as shown above and won’t be able to.

With the Storm Ruler sword equipped, we’d say that you’re now prepared to face the Storm King and take it on.

How to Defeat the Storm King without taking Damage

Just before the boss arrives to fight you, you should quickly take out all of the Storm Beasts that are flying above you. We recommend this because they will attack you while you’re dealing with the main boss and are overall a nuisance you should remove beforehand:

To do this, use your heavy attack by pressing R2 and charge up the Storm Ruler. This should release a wave of lightning that should damage them even while they’re farther away from you and in the air. If you’re a ranged player, then you can use spells or your bow too!

Pretty soon, the Storm King will arrive above you. This is one massive boss you’ll realize and much like the Storm Beasts, it will be flying too.

Now what we suggest you do here, is wedge yourself in the corner of a structure that’s got some height to it, like the one here:

This will make sure that you’re not hit by any of the projectiles the Storm King chucks at you. Once the Storm King is passing by near to you, use the same heavy attack of the Storm Ruler sword to launch a few lightning bolts at the boss.

Take care of any other Storm Beasts that might show up and keep repeating this step. You’ll slowly but definitely chip down the Storm King’s health bar.

After the last of the Storm King’s health bar is diminished, the Storm King will die and fade away! You’ll receive a message on-screen indicating so, along with a hint that you’ll be receiving the Storm Demon’s Soul for it.

What can you use the Storm Demon’s Soul for

Now that you’ve killed the Storm King, you’d have received around 40,400 Souls and a +45% White World Tendency. However, more importantly, you’ll receive 1 Storm Demon’s Soul for defeating the Storm King demon in battle.

These Demon’s Souls can be used to unlock upgrades, spells, abilities and also craft better equipment for your character.

Here are all the different things you can do with the Storm Demon’s Soul:

  • Can be used to ‘Ascend’ any short sword that you have, into a Morion Blade when you visit Blacksmith Ed.
  • With the Storm Demon’s Soul, you can also go to Saint Urbain and purchase the Anti-Magic Field miracle from him.
  • Finally, you can simply consume the soul to gain around 48,000 souls for further use in the game.

We recommend you to either ‘Ascend’ your short sword or buy the miracle, as normal demon souls can always be farmed, but you’ll get only one Storm Demon’s Soul throughout the entire game.
