US telecom company, Sprint has started rolling out October 2019 Android security updates to the LG G7 ThinQ, Moto G7 Play, and Moto G6 Play, just a week after it released the same for the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy A50.
The OTA reserved for the Sprint-based LG G7 ThinQ, with model number G710PM, carries the version G710P18a and appears to have released on October 29, as posted by a Sprint Community Manager. This is the LG G7 ThinQ’s first update in over a month after the device received August 2019 security patch back in September.
Sprint’s Motorola G7 Play with model number XT1952-4 also receives an OTA update with firmware version PCYS29.105-134-3. The update changelog notes October 2019 security patches for the device.
Alongside the more recent G7 Play, Motorola’s G6 Play (model XT-1922-7) locked on to Sprint is also getting an update with Android Security Patch level: October 2019. The update carries the software version PCPS29.118-41-2 and appears to have started rolling out on October 24.
It’s interesting to see that the US-based telecom giant is only offering October 2019 security to these three devices when Note 10/10 Plus units bought from the same carrier are now home to November 2019 security.
