Sprint Note Edge is now receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update along with “Various Bug Fixes and Enhancements” as per the official changelog. The update is coming with build number N915PVPU4COFE and should already be available for download on your Sprint Note Edge.
Sprint released the Android 5.1.1 update last week for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, and from that we can tell you that this Android 5.1.1 OFE build for the Sprint Note Edge is going to break root and TWRP recovery as well like it did on the Sprint S6 and S6 edge. So if you care about those things, we’d suggest you to stay away from the OTA update until someone knowledgeable from the community finds a way to root and a safe way to upgrade to Android 5.1.1.
Also, this Android 5.1.1 update might also block you from downgrading back to Android 5.0 (OF6 build) if need be. Samsung’s Android 5.1.1 update has been upgrading bootloader on almost all the devices it has reached so far, disabling any downgrades to previous firmware. So just be sure of this too (along with root and twrp) before you decide on updating to the N915PVPU4COFE Android 5.1.1 firmware on you Sprint Note Edge.
All that said, if you’re keen on getting the Android 5.1.1 OTA installed on your Sprint Note Edge but haven’t yet gotten the notification for update yet, then make your device force check for it from “Settings > About phone > Software updates” section.
