HTC 10 units on Sprint network are up for a new software update. The update installs July security patch and is on the roll out as we speak.
Arriving as software version 2.51.651.2, the update also tags along minor bug fixes. And in all probability it includes system enhancements. Although a minor one, it is highly recommended as it enhances the security of your HTC 10 device.
However, the update seems to have broken the fingerprint scanning. Many HTC 10 users have reported this problem after installing the July security patch update. One such user says:
I updated this morning and my fingerprint scanner stopped working. I’ve rebooted twice. I reset the fingerprint reader and added a new fingerprint. When I press it I get nothing…no haptic response.
HTC has not responded till now about the fingerprint issue that has cropped up with the July security patch update.

Nevertheless, if you haven’t received the update yet, you can manually check for it by heading to Settings > About device > System updates. But before going for the download button, ensure that your device is at least 50 percent charged and connected to a WiFi network.
