The Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are currently receiving a new software update. If you’re on one of these devices, you should be seeing the update arrive as OTA very soon.
These updates will install the October Android security patch on your Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. They’re based on Android Nougat. The build version for the Galaxy S7 is G930PVPU5BQJ3, and G935PVPU5BQJ3 for the Galaxy S7 Edge.
Apart from installing the October security patches, the update fixes other general bugs and issues. The Galaxy A5 2017 recently received a similar update with the November security patch, so Samsung has to improve its update schedule for other smartphones.
If you’ve got the notification for this update, we recommend that you install it right away. You can manually check for the update by heading to Settings > About > Software Update. Samsung has still not released the Android Oreo update for its latest smartphones, but you can expect it in the coming weeks. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge would also be getting the Oreo update, sometime next year.
