Sprint has begun rolling out Android 5.1.1 update as an OTA for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge sets. The T-Mobile S6 and S6 Edge sets were first to receive it in US and worldwide, but it seems Sprint wasn’t far behind. The build no. for Sprint Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Android 5.1 update is G920PVPU2BOF7 and G925PVPU2BOF7 respectively.

The official changelog doesn’t list out much, bit it does point out very soberly that it’s Android 5.1 in tow, and going by the build no. OF7, we believe it’s an Android 5.1.1 firmware similar to what we’ve seen on international and US Cellular Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge sets. Sprint also says there are some bug fixes that accompany the update.

We hope Sprint users don’t have to face the issue with quick settings toggles, as some of those disappeared on T-Mobile sets’ 5.1 update. Anyway, on 5.1 update, you will be able to hide away the ‘S Finder’ and ‘Quick Connect’ options from the notification bar easily, to free up crucial screen real estate there. For this, swipe down the notification bar, then tap on Edit, and then un-tick them both options from the bottom of the screen, where you see option to arrange all toggles.

Right now, the update is not available for download, either as OTA or full TAR firmware. We are sure the full firmware that’s flashable via Odin should be soon available, and we will be sure to share it with you guys. Keep checking this space. The Android 5.1.1 OTA update is 568 MB in size, btw.

Meanwhile, if you don a Sprint S6 or S6 Edge, you can try forcing the 5.1 update on your device if it hasn’t knocked automatically yet. For this, go to Settings > About device >Software update, and then tap on ‘Update now’ to force the phone check for update. Should it confirm, go ahead and download and install it.
