Sprint is rolling out another OTA with Factory Reset Protection to one of its smartphones from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 4. Before this, the yellow carrier released the FPR update to Galaxy S5 earlier this month.
The update is coming with build number N910PVPU2BOE1 and also comes with certain bug fixes along with FPR, as per the official changelog by Sprint.
In case you’re wondering what is this Factory Reset Protection thing is, well it’s an additional layer of security for bootloader unlockable devices, so that no one can reset your device without your permission by unlocking the bootloader. It’s a simple “Enable OEM unlock” toggle under Settings » Developer options.
However, know that this update will break root access on your Sprint Galaxy Note 4. And it’s uncertain if the previous CF-Auto-Root will work on the newer update. Also, it may not be possible to downgrade your Note 4 from this update N910PVPU2BOE1 to the previous N910PVPU1BOB7 Lollipop build. So, make sure you really want to install this OTA because there’s no going back from this.
