The much awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update is now finally rolling out to Sprint LG G5 with software version LS992ZV8. The update brings new UI elements of Android 7.0 along with many new features.

While this is a happy moment for Sprint G5 users, you also need to know that the new software version and Android 7.0 Nougat might not be easy to root on the Sprint G5, if in case the LG and Sprint teamed up to mess with you.

That said, Android 7.0 Nougat on its own is pretty easy to root with both SuperSU and Magisk zip. We’ve tested Nougat on several devices so far and all supported root without any issues.

However, you need TWRP recovery to install/flash SuperSU or Magisk. And the current TWRP recovery build for Sprint G5 might not support Nougat yet. So unless, Sprint G5 TWRP gets Nougat support you might not be able to get rooted.

We’ll be keeping an eye over at xda and other Android communities for updated TWRP recovery builds or alternate rooting methods to root Sprint G5 on Nougat.

Stay tuned..
