The current flagship device from Sony, Xperia Z3, is expected to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update anytime during this month, but that’s only for the Generic variants of the device. The carrier branded variants of Z3 will get the Lollipop update a bit later, most probably in March.
If you’re on Vodafone Australia, then you’d be happy to know that the carrier is set to begin testing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Xperia Z2 and Z3, and is only waiting for Sony to provide the Lollipop based firmware to begin its tests. Vodafone expects to get the firmware in February itself, which makes sense since Sony will too begin the Lollipop roll out for Generic variants this month only.
If Vodafone receives the firmware in the next few days, and quickly gets done with its testing, then chances are that we might get the Lollipop update on Vodafone branded Xperia Z2 and Z3 by the end of February. But, if things go on at snails pace, then March is our best guess.
