The Japanese tech firm Sony has announced on Tuesday that it will be updating a slew of its devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop starting from the next week. The devices that will receive the update next week include the Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra.

The firm has taken it to Twitter to announce the rollout of the update to its devices. Though there is no specific timeframe, it claims that the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 will receive the update soon after the first wave of update. Also, the Z series devices such as Xperia Z, ZR, ZL and Tablet Z will also obtain the update sometime soon, but there is no particular mention of when exactly the updates will make their way to the devices.

If you own any of these Sony devices and you are wondering what enhancements will be brought in by the Lollipop update, here is a video from Sony detailing the key enhancements. Some of the prime features that will be brought in by the Lollipop update include actionable lock screen notifications, Priority Mode notifications, Google’s Material Design and Smart Lock.

Unlike the other manufacturers, Sony has taken a nice initiative to update a slew of devices at a stretch. Old devices that were launched a couple of years back are not left by the firm making it impressive.
