The Xperia Tablet S may not have sold that well, but Sony apparently thinks it is more important than devices like the Xperia S and will start rolling out the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for it today, starting from United States, Canada, and Latin America.
The update will be pushed out to Sony’s production servers between 9am – 10am PST, after which users should begin to see a notification on their tablets. Once the update becomes available, the release notes and full changelog would be made available here, and we should hopefully see the global rollout follow soon after.
Android 4.1.2 brings smoothness and responsiveness improvements thanks to Project Butter, rich expandable notifications, Google Now, resizable and automatically rearranging widgets and shortcuts on homescreen, faster browser performance, accessibility improvements, offline voice dictation and more.
Be on the lookout for that long-awaited update notification to arrive on the bottom right of your tablet. And sorry Xperia S owners, your must wait go on a bit longer – here’s hoping Sony gets its act together and turns some attention to its 12-megapixel flagship phone from last year.
