On Thursday, the Japanese tech firm Sony unveiled the Sony Xperia J1 Compact smartphone in its homeland Japan. Notably, the device carries the highlight of being the first ‘SIM-free’ smartphone. The Xperia J1 Compact smartphone will be launched via the carrier NTT DoCoMo on April 20. The pre-orders for the device will be debuting from March 27 for JPY 59,184 (approx. Rs 30,000).
The Sony Xperia J1 Compact is company’s first device to arrive with LTE communication “PLAY SIM” and MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) support. This will provide voice call plans on NTT DoCoMo that are customized as per the needs of the users.
Talking of the technical aspects, the Xperia J1 Compact is fueled by Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system and it is bestowed with a 4.3 inch HD 720p display. Powering the device from within is a 2.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that is supplemented by 2 GB of RAM.
For storage, the Sony Xperia J1 Compact smartphone bundles 16 GB of default storage capacity that can be further enhanced using a micro SD card. The handset packs in impressive imaging features with a 20.7 MP main camera at its back accompanied with LED flash as in the yesteryear flagship model Xperia Z3. Also, there is a 2.2 MP facing selfie snapper onboard.
The Xperia J1 Compact packs in connectivity aspects such as 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. There is a 2,300 mAh non-removable battery operating under its hood, but the backup rendered by it remains unknown. Like the other high-end devices from Sony, the Xperia J1 Compact is water and dust resistant with IPX5/ IPX8 ratings.
