We were all disappointed by Sony’s decision to launch the next along its Xperia Z series the Z4, as an upgraded version of the previous Z3 — and that too only in Japan. In fact, critics went as far as to call it “the waste of a perfectly good device name.”

All this criticism stemmed from the fact that Sony devices launch with plenty of time between them and as such, consumers have a right to expect something more than a slight hardware/software upgrade.

Simply put, the Z4 was almost exactly like an Xperia Z3 with a slightly thinner body, newer processor and capless waterproofing.

Well, it seems like Sony has heeded the omens because the device has been rechristened as the Z3+ and will be released globally in June. Yaay!! Lets take a look at the specs of the Z3+.

The Xperia Z3+ comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p LCD display and features a staggering 20.7MP rear Exmor RS camera along with a 5MP front Exmor R one. The device runs on Android 5.0 with Sony’s upgraded skin.

The Z3+ is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 backed by 3 GB of RAM and a massive 2930mAh battery that according to the company can run for up to two days on a single charge.

Other highlights of the device include IP65 and IP68 water and dust resistance without the aid of any imposing USB cap and expandable storage up to 128 GB.

Well, this does mean that the launch of the Z4 has been delayed even further. In the meanwhile, lets see how the Z3+ turns out.

Stay Tuned!
