Sharp, the Japanese electronic giant, has grabbed the limelight in the past on a number of occasions with bezel less smartphones. Apart from the stunning looking concept Corner R device, Sharp has commercially made available some interesting bezel-less smartphones like Sharp Aquos Crystal and Sharp Aquos Xx. Now, the company has launched a new smartphone named Aquos R.

Based on its reputation, the name itself got us quite kicked up. We thought combining R from Corner R and Aquos from Aquos Crystal, Sharp has come up with an interesting looking bezel less smartphone Aquos R. But our hopes got deflated when we had a look at the newly launched Sharp Aquos R as it is no where near the bezel-less concept. However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a premium handset. What got our hopes afloat is the rocking internal hardware coupled with great software and an AI. This time, Sharp has made a transition from emphasizing on the design to giving more weightage to specsheet in Aquos R. And that is what makes it a top notch device.

Sharp has equipped Aquos R with 5.3 inch WQHD IGZO liquid crystal display panel which is 4K HDR 10 compatible. At its heart, it carries the latest Snapdragon 835 processor. Another outstanding feature is the 22.6MP rear camera with F1.9 aperture and an amazing 16.3MP selfie snapper. It packs in 4GB RAM and 64GB in-built storage.

Sharp Aquos R will be shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and 3,160 mAh battery. On top of these high-end specsheet, it sports front fingerprint scanner and IP68 rating which makes it water and dust resistant. The cherry on the icing is Sharp’s AI ‘Emopa’ which gives the user audio and text messages, and changes the screen, depending on the time, place, and user’s personal needs. ‘Emopa’ can operate independently or combined with an accessory dock called ROBOKUKU (does it sound like Samsung’s DeX Station?).

Sharp Aquos R combines 4Rs- Reality, Response, Robotics and Reliability. With the above spechsheet, the Sharp phone combines the great design and hardware which companies like Samsung bring in their devices with great cameras which OEMs like Oppo and Vivo focus upon.

Although the official price has not been listed, we suppose it should be retailed at around 800 euros. Also, at this point it is not clear if Sharp will release Aquos R in the international market or not. But we would surely love to have our hands on one.
