Samsung sure has gotten the hang of how to sell their Android smartphones well – release it on all major carriers at once, like they did with the Galaxy S3 (which recently achieved a 20 million sales milestone in 100 days). The newly announced Galaxy Note 2 might apparently be getting the same treatment, as a source of BriefMobile claims that Samsung is planning to launch the device on AT&T, T-Mobile, Bell Canada, and Sprint.
The source was also able to provide images of the AT& variant’s benchmarks and a few other screenshots supposedly taken on it. For the first time, all the US variants will sport 4G LTE while running the same Exynos quad-core processor on the international variant instead of a dual-core Snapdragon, which indicates Samsung may finally be ready with mass production of the LTE-enabled Exynos chips (which are currently seen only on the Galaxy S3 variant in Korea). This should take the load off Qualcomm to provide dual-core Snapdragon S4 chips for mobile devices, something which are running in short supply thanks to the high demand specially in the US, due to the Snapdragon chipset’s LTE-friendliness.
As expected, the Galaxy Note 2 on AT&T – which goes by the model number SGH-I317 and the product name “t0lteatt” – obliterates other devices in the Quadrant benchmark, while also getting a high score upwards of 13,000 in the AnTuTu benchmark, beating the current champion aka Galaxy S3. The hardware details in AnTuTu mention the processor clocked at 1.6GHz and a display having a resolution of 720×1280 pixels, which are exactly the specs of the international model. Android 4.1.1 is the Android version running on the devce as has already been confirmed from the official announcement and specs.
The source didn’t have any info on the release date of the AT&T Galaxy Note 2, except that it will be “coming very soon”, while also saying that the T-Mobile, Bell Canada, and Sprint models are in the works too, even though no pictures or screenshots from those were available.
People in the US will certainly be glad that a quad-core Exynos powered Galaxy device is finally headed to US shores, and the fact that Samsung will be releasing it on all major carriers is no doubt another positive thing. Are you glad that you might be able to get your hands on the Galaxy Note 2 with all its power, on the carrier of your choice? Do let us know in the comments!
