Samsung dropped a bomb at Gamescom 2024 by unveiling the Odyssey 3D gaming monitor, one that lets you view 3D content, especially games, without special glasses.
The Odyssey 3D uses special technology to create 3D images from regular 2D content. It does this by using a lens on the front of the screen that sends different images to each eye. The monitor also has a camera that tracks the user’s eyes and adjusts the image to improve depth perception.
It also lets you switch between 2D and 3D models on a whim. The monitor comes in two sizes: 27 inches and 37 inches. Both versions have impressive features for gaming, including:
- 4K resolution display
- 165Hz refresh rate
- 1ms response time
- AMD FreeSync support
These specs are ideal for smooth gameplay without blurring or interruptions.
The Odyssey 3D also has useful design features, such as a stand that can be adjusted for height and tilt. For connecting devices, it has one DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports.
Samsung has not yet announced the price or exact release date for the Odyssey 3D. However, the company said it will be “available globally, including in North America, Europe and Australia within this year“.
