For quite sometime, we have been hearing about the Galaxy XCover 3 smartphone and now, the device has been announced officially. Well, Samsung has unveiled the sequel to the Galaxy XCover 2 smartphone after two solid years.
Similar to the other devices in the lineup, the latest one also features a dust and water resistant build with the IP67 certification. The device is capable of withstanding drops from a height of 1.2 meters and to survive underwater for up to 30 meters. It is claimed to comply with the MIL-STD 810G standards. The Galaxy XCover 3 will be showcased at the CeBIT trade fair and will go on sale in April for a pricing of 275 euros.
Detailing on the technical specifications front, the Samsung Galaxy XCover 3 boasts of a 4.5 inch display with a screen resolution of 800×480 pixels and is stuffed with a 1.2 GHz quad core processor paired with 512 MB of RAM. The device bundles 8 GB of native storage space that can be expanded further with the help of a micro SD card. The handset runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and is can be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The imaging department of the Galaxy XCover 3 is given a 5 MP main snapper with the ability to underwater shooting support and a 2 MP front facing selfie shooter. The other aspects of the device include LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, NFC, KNOX and a 2,200 mAh battery.
Samsung has retained the physical keys such as Back, Home and Multi-Tasking buttons. This makes the smartphone easy to use even in the extreme temperatures. Furthermore, there is a XCover key to turn on the flashlight and the same will double as the camera shutter key on double tapping it.
