Samsung is taking smart homes to the next level with a significant upgrade to its Bixby voice assistant and a dash of AI creativity for its high-tech fridges. The tech giant announced these enhancements for its Bespoke AI appliance lineup, set to roll out from August 27.
The upgraded Bixby version boasts improved comprehension skills, allowing it to tackle more complex voice commands with ease. Gone are the days of robotic, single-task instructions. Users can now string together multiple requests in a more natural, conversational manner.
For instance, you could ask your Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, “Hi Bixby, what’s the weather like? Start washing and clean the living room.” Bixby will understand and execute each part of the request in order.
But that’s not all. Bixby now has a memory, recalling previous conversations for more context-aware interactions. It can also answer product-related questions, making it a knowledgeable appliance companion.
Samsung is also bringing a touch of AI artistry to its Family Hub refrigerators. The new Generative Wallpaper feature, previously seen on Galaxy smartphones, is making its debut on these smart fridges.
Users can now create unique, AI-generated wallpapers for their Family Hub screens. With seven categories and six art styles to choose from, the possibilities for personalization are vast. These custom creations can be saved for later use or applied to the fridge’s cover screen and whiteboard.
The Bixby upgrade and Generative Wallpaper feature are coming to five of Samsung’s 2024 Bespoke AI appliances:
