We’ve known for a while now that Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 would be unveiled in India this week.
In fact, we already knew just about everything regarding the On7 Prime 2018 apart from the pricing and release date. And now that Samsung has made the device official today at an event in New Delhi, we finally have the last pieces of the puzzle.
Priced at Rs 12,990 for the base model and Rs 14,990 for the high-end variant, the Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 comes with a 5.5-inch display screen with a full HD resolution. If you are wondering, this is the traditional 16:9 display, something that could make the device’s life difficult in a market segment boasting the likes of Huawei Honor 7X, Honor 9 Lite or even Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, all of which rock the new 18:9 aspect ratio and are already guaranteed to receive Android Oreo in the coming months.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 has an Exynos 7870 SoC mated with 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB of expandable storage. The back and front cameras have a 13MP sensor, but it’s only the main shooter that gets a LED flash. The phone also supports dual-SIM slots, LTE connectivity, has a decent 3300mAh battery unit and runs Samsung Experience 8.5 atop Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.
In addition, Samsung has also included the Samsung Pay Mini and Samsung Mall apps out of the box. The former isn’t new, but the latter might not be known to some. Apparently, this is just a custom version of Bixby Vision, where Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 users will be able to capture a picture of something they want and purchase related products from major online retailers using Samsung Mall.
As usual, the Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 will be limited to online availability through Amazon India and Samsung Shop beginning January 20th. This is also the same date that the Galaxy A8 and A8+ will start selling in India while the Honor 9 Lite will be available the following day. Xiaomi is also expected to start selling the Redmi 5 and 5 Plus in India somewhere in the second half of February 2018.
