Google released the public version of Android 8.0 back in August, and it has taken Samsung a good six months to bring out their own variation of the update. After a vigorous Samsung Beta cycle in multiple countries, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were the first devices to be greeted with the Android Oreo update last month.
The South-Korean giant is definitely catching up to the newer flagship-standard devices, which the release of Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy Note 8 that began last week. The Oreo update has now made its way to the T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy Note 8 (version N950USQU3CRC2), with multiple reports confirming the 1.3GB update across the United States.
We are also seeing the Oreo rollout taking place for the Galaxy Note 8 devices in Canada, where too the build no. remains same as CRC2, the full software version being N950WVLU3CRC2. Users at carriers like Virgin Mobile, Bell Mobile, SaskTel, EastLink, Globalive Wind Mobile, etc. are already receiving the OTA update as we talk.
Meanwhile the rough and tough variant of the flagship from 2017, the Galaxy S8 Active is also being upgraded to the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. With build number G892AUC2BRC5 and an update security patch from March, you can expect the goodness of Oreo reach the A8 Active set near you soon enough.
