Samsung just officially announced the Android 7.0 Nougat update that is currently rolling out for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices in Europe. The update started rolling out over-the-air on January 17th, and full firmware files were also recently released.
The Korean Giant also revealed release timeline for other devices from the company which are eligible to get the update officially. In the first half of year 2017, the following devices will get the Nougat update: Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge Plus, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock), Galaxy A3, and Galaxy A8.
This above list of devices of course misses many other eligible devices from the company and we guess these devices will get the update in the second half of the year.
Samsung released the new (2017) Galaxy A series of smartphones earlier this month. These devices run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, and were, unfortunately, not named in the Q1 or Q2 Nougat update release schedule.
The official announcement also pushed other Samsung Galaxy devices from year 2016, the Galaxy A5, A7, A9, C9 Pro, C7, C5, J7 (2016), J7 Prime, J5 (2016) and J5 Prime Nougat update release date to the second half of this year.
