Samsung may delay launch of a foldable smartphone as it focuses more on other display technologies

We’ve now known for some time that Samsung plans to commercialize foldable display smartphones by the year 2019. However, earlier this year, rumors about two new Galaxy X smartphones surfaced online, and both were supposed to have flexible displays.

As per the rumors, these flexible display phones would be released in the second half of 2017, but that’s not going to happen. A new report is now stating that due to technical and other manufacturing difficulties, the phones could be delayed.

Apparently, Samsung is currently focusing more on full-screen technology, and infusing fingerprint sensors into the screen and what not. And that is perhaps the right thing to do at the moment. Everything has to be flexible, durable, and safe in a foldable smartphone, including components such as the battery.

It will, then, take much longer for Samsung to dwell into the foldable display smartphone. Whether it’s called the Galaxy X or not, only time will tell. We believe 2019 seems about the right time to introduce this tech to the market. Read more at the source link.
