Samsung gets green light to test its self-driving car on road

According to a new report from Korea, Samsung has been given the go ahead to test its self-driving car on public roads. The Land Ministry of Korea granted the approval recently, allowing the company to test its self-driving tech.

Of course, Samsung will not be making any new cars as such, but will develop sensors, software, and other components to make self-driving cars better. The South Korean giant will be using its technology on a Hyundai made car.

The Hyundai car would be fitted with all the camera sensors and modules to make it a safe self-driving car. The car would begin testing very soon on public roads in the country. We have no idea when these would actually be available to the public.

Self-driving cars are the next big thing, and Samsung definitely wants a piece of the action. And instead of building its own car, testing its tech on something that’s already available, is a very good idea.

  1. Maybe a partnership with Hyundai in releasing the self driven car ? Public release will be quite a while away aa they’ve only started testing ,kinda want to see how this goes 🙂

  2. after LeEco and google, Samsung will be the third smartphone brand to test or make the self driving car, Apple’s car is still a rumor but I heard that they will have a prototype next year, but two things for sure, one that the cars will contain all the latest tech in it on the software as well as well hardware side and second is that they won’t be Cheap, as far as the Apple car goes I think u can expect a price around the same as Buggati!!

  3. This is very exciting. Makes sense they aren’t going to coming up with full fledged cars but rather the sensors and other technology, hardware and software needed to make it work. After reading various reports of tesla cars predicting accidents and preventing collisions, I am convinced that self driving cars are the future. Almost all major technology based companies have a hand in this field one way or another, usually teaming up with a car manufacturer. Not a surprise to see Samsung also getting into this. Definitely curious to see how it will go. I am sure it will be a long wait though.
