Samsung Gear Live receiving an OTA update with January security patch

The Samsung Gear Live is the company’s first Android Wear powered smartwatch and it is getting a new software update right now. Available as an OTA, the update installs the January Android security patch.

Apart from the security patch, the update also installs the latest Google Play services. If you haven’t received the update yet, then go to Settings>About>System Updates to check for the update manually.

It is also recommended to have the latest Wear app on your smartphone. Before downloading the update, make sure you’re connected to a stable WiFi network. The Android Wear version number is 1.5.0.3653938.

The Gear Live smartwatch is more than 2 years old now, and it is certainly not going to get the Android Wear 2.0 update. The watch uses a Snapdragon 400 processor, has 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and a 300mAh battery.
