Samsung Galaxy Tab View 2 release is near, device clears Wi-Fi Alliance

Samsung Galaxy View 2 Wi-Fi Alliance

It’s been long since Samsung released the Galaxy View tablet, which came by back in October 2015 and hit the American shores later the same year. Now, according to reports, it appears the Galaxy View 2 is in the works and in fact, it is likely to debut before the end of the year, if not in early 2019.

The Galaxy View 2 has just made a stop at the Wi-Fi Alliance with model number SM-T927A, an indicator that this is a variant heading to AT&T. The WFA listing doesn’t reveal much in terms of specs, but it does confirm the View 2 will be powered by Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, not even 8.1.

Galaxy View 2 specs [rumored]

  • 17-inch FHD TFT display screen
  • Exynos 7885 (7884) processor
  • 3GB or 4GB RAM
  • 32GB or 64GB expandable storage

  • Unknown battery capacity
  • Android 8.0 Oreo
  • Extras: Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, etc.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the Galaxy View 2 is showing up in official documentation. The slate already appeared on the WFA back in October, something that was captured by folks at tabletmonkeys. The same publication also uncovered a listing on the Bluetooth SIG back in September, which effectively gave away the slate’s official name.

Galaxy View 2 release date

The Galaxy View 2 has been showing up for months now and at some point, it was expected to be launched in early 2019. Nothing has changed about this expected date, but we won’t be surprised if the slate goes live before the end of the year.

  1. I realize I’m in a small minority here but I’m really pumped about this releasing — I love my View! I actually eventually got rid of my only TV, didn’t need it any more. The original still runs fine but could certainly use some spec upgrades, it wasn’t terribly strong even when it launched. But I love the form factor. Will definitely be buying.

  2. a completely under-rated device. the size of the GV throws everybody off but once you get your hands on one, you can’t put it down. Cant wait for this release.

  3. My son is vision-impaired. This jumbo tablet could be a life-changer. I hope it gets released soon!!
