Launched with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, upgraded to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in 2016, the Tab E one rare device to rock Android 7.1.1 update. Samsung has begun rollout of the Nougat update for Tab E 8.0-inch, particularly for the model no. SM-T377R4, which is a US Cellular variant in US.
We can expect the Tab E Nougat update to arrive for unlocked variants, as well as for other carrier in US wherever it was sold. Coming in as software version T377R4TYU1CQI4, the build packs in August security patch, and we are not sure whether it also fixes the Blueborne security issue on the Tab E.
Samsung has recently rolled out Nougat update for a bunch of its devices, and that list includes Galaxy On Nxt, Galaxy A5 2017, etc. while it is still in the processor of rolling out Nougat update for flagship devices like Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus in some regions.

While it’s really good to see Samsung take care of devices released with Android 5.1.1 on-board, bestowing them with Android Nougat update, right now, talk of the moment is Oreo update. Even though Samsung is yet to reveal it Oreo update plans, rumors have been afloat about the Oreo update for Galaxy S8 reaching testing stage internally at Samsung HQs.

We could see the Android 8.0 OTA for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, and also the Galaxy Note 8, in near future, although it could still take a month or two from now.
