June 10, 2019: Samsung is now rolling out the stable version of Android 9 Pie to the Galaxy Tab Active 2. This tablet arrived in 2017 preinstalled with Android Nougat, which makes Pie the second major Android OS upgrade.

April 25, 2019: The Wi-Fi Alliance has just cleared multiple variants of the Galaxy Tab Active 2 to receive Android 9 Pie with One UI. Both Wi-Fi-only and LTE variants for the U.S. market are missing from the list, but they should still receive Pie when ready.

The OG Galaxy Tab Active came out in 2014 and as of this writing, the device is no longer receiving software support from Samsung. This leaves us with the 2017 edition – the Galaxy Tab Active 2.
Having launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and recently upgraded to Android 8.1 Oreo, the update to Android 9 Pie marks the end of the road for this rugged tablet. The OS first arrived on June 7, 2019, in Italy for the LTE variant.
