Samsung Galaxy S9 pre-orders in Korea begin on March 2

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus

We already know a great deal of details regarding the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. While part of this info is about the expected launch and release dates of the S8 and S8+ successors, details of the pre-order date and price had, up to now, remained elusive.

But according to a report surfacing from South Korea, we might just have gotten our eyes on what will be the pre-order date of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ alongside the expected price, at least for the Korean market.

Pre-order window to last a week

Apparently, pre-orders for the S9 and S9+ will begin on March 2 in South Korea. This will be about a week following the phone’s launch on February 25. The pre-order window will last one week and the device will be available for purchase beginning March 9 through all three major carriers in South Korea.

More expensive than Galaxy S8

Over the recent past, we’ve heard reports that Samsung Galaxy S9 may be costlier than the Galaxy S8, which currently stands as the most expensive in the Galaxy S series. Given all that we’ve heard about the S9 series, it’s no surprise that it’ll command a higher price tag than its predecessor.

In Korea, the S8 was priced at 935,000 Won, translating to about $870. As it is, the S9 will be priced somewhere between 950,000 Won and 999,000 Won. These translate to about $885 and $930, respectively.

While we still don’t have a clue about the expected price tags in the U.S., Europe, India and other markets, if this is true, the Galaxy S9 will take over from the S8 and become the most expensive handset in the Galaxy S series.
