More than seven months after the first device received Android Oreo stable update, owners of Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge can finally dance to the same tune. This was coming and we even saw Verizon mistakenly publish Oreo changelogs for the two devices, only to take them down later.

Like any other OS, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Oreo updates will be rolling out region-wise. Even so, for markets like the U.S. where carriers are the order of the day, it is each individual carrier that will decide when to release Oreo for the S7 pair.

In Europe and the rest of the globe, carriers don’t have much of a say on when updates will be rolled out. Mostly, these markets have unlocked variants of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and it is them that are leading the way in receiving Android Oreo, just like it happened with the Galaxy S8, Note 8 and Galaxy A 2017 series.

In fact, the current rollout is limited to Europe’s UK and Ireland and even though mostly those using unlocked models in these countries have received Android Oreo, those on Vodafone UK and Vodafone Ireland are also on board. Samsung has not published any roadmap, but based on what happened with previous Oreo updates, it shouldn’t be long before other markets using the same variants join the party.

For now, only variants with model numbers SM-G930F and SM-G935F are receiving Oreo. Besides Europe, these variants are also sold in Asia and Africa, although some markets have the dual-SIM versions. It may take a couple or so weeks before more of those using carrier variants (not just in the U.S.) start receiving Oreo on their Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge units.
