On Sunday, at the Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event during the pre-MWC 2015 tech show in Barcelona, the South Korean tech giant unveiled the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Both the flagship model and its curved variant were announced in three different storage capacities – 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. But, it appears like the European markets will not receive the 32 GB variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge.
As per the listing of both the devices over at Samsung’s official UK website, the Galaxy S6 edge seems to be only getting the 64GB and 128GB storage options, and while that’s a good thing since we know Galaxy S6 edge price will be 20% higher anyway than Galaxy S6, but it could still be better if Samsung had offered a 32GB variant of S6 edge for a slightly reduced price, since most of us could do with that.
The listing also reveals two new exclusive color options — Blue Topaz and Green Emerald — for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, respectively.
Notably, these smartphones are the first ones from Samsung to boast of a new design that includes toughest glass body at their front and back with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and an aluminum frame at the center. Samsung touts that this design will make the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge stronger by 50 percent than the other smartphones that boast metallic build.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge differ only in terms of display. Both the smartphones flaunt a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display with the only difference being the dual side displays on the Galaxy S6 Edge. Otherwise, both the smartphones are identical with a 64 bit Exynos 7420 octa core processor paired with 3 GB of RAM. The handsets lack expandable storage support as there is no micro SD card slot on them.
There is a 16 MP main snapper on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge with OIS and other superior camera features. Also, there is a 5 MP main camera for video conferencing and clicking self portrait shots. The handsets run on Android 5.0 Lollipop that is topped with a new TouchWiz UI that is free of bloatware. The smartphones differ slightly in terms of battery as the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge include 2,550 mAh and 2,600 mAh batteries respectively to keep things juiced up. Notably, the battery in the smartphones are non-removable that is another downside of these devices.
