Samsung has been struggling in terms of sales volume lately, but it launched the redesigned Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to make its offerings appealing to customers. In the favor of the manufacturer, the latest devices that entered pre-order in Korea are said to be creating records.
Well, a recent report from Korea claims that around 20 million units of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have been pre-ordered so far. Of this, the report states that 15 million was for the Galaxy S6 and the other 5 million pre-orders were for the device with curved glass on both edges. These are the pre-order figures in Korea, Samsung’s homeland alone.
Undoubtedly, the claimed 20 million pre-order units is a record for the South Korean manufacturer. This was revealed by a senior executive at a dominant wireless carrier in the region who wanted to be anonymous. The executive claimed that he had a high opinion on both the recent Samsung smartphones that were launched at the MWC 2015.
However, Samsung’s Mobile Chief, Shin Jong-kyun stated that the response for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge is much better than that of the yesteryear flagship model, Galaxy S5. He revealed that the pre-orders of these two models from all the major clients are pretty huge, but the specific figure was not revealed.
Last year, there was a tepid response for the Galaxy S5 as consumers were held by the larger iPhone, the iPhone 6 that helped Apple sell 74.5 million units in the fourth quarter of the last year alone.
While there is no confirmation on the pre-order figure of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, if the report is authentic, we can say that Samsung is back tracks to smash the other manufacturers and stay at the top of the global smartphone arena.
