While Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in India today, the Galaxy S5 users have exciting information. Well, the yesteryear flagship smartphone is reportedly claimed to have started receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
The Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 is pushed as an OTA update, and hence a notification will pop up on the device soon. We can expect this update to be rolled out to all the Galaxy S5 units in the country in a few days. Users of the handset can also check for the update by heading on to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Update as well.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 measures 875 MB in size. Initially, the update was pushed for those S5 units in Europe with the build Android LRX21P and the version number G900FXXU1BL2.
As the several video previews that surfaced on the Internet showing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on the Galaxy S5, the smartphone is claimed to have received better touch response, Android Lollipop styled new interactive notification tray and calendar and dialer apps. Several applications are said to feature the new Material Design elements that were introduced in the operating system.
There are reports suggesting that the Galaxy S5 Mini smartphone will be receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the next quarter of this year.
