It is time to say hello to some news about the Samsung Galaxy S4 again. After a few bits of rumors, a leak of the actual device’s image and also a concept video, we now have new info from Sammobile, the holy grail of all things Samsung, that the Korean manufacturer will be launching the next flagship device in the Galaxy S line on April 15.
According to Sammobile, the code name of Samsung’s next flagship device has been changed from “Project J” to “Altius J”, and Samsung is planning to start shipping the Altius starting week 16 this year, aka April 15. The device will come in black and white, with flashy names for the colours to be decided later on, but the actual name of the device is yet to be finalized.
The number 4 is considered bad luck in Korea, which has led people to believe that the next Galaxy S flagship may not be called the Galaxy S4, with Samsung even changing its model number to GT-I9500 instead of I9400. While it’s a surety that the Galaxy S4 (if that’s what it is called later on) will sell like hotcakes no matter what it’s called, Samsung might not be wanting to take any chances resulting in their indecision on the naming.
Sammobile is also confirming that the Galaxy S4 will feature wireless charging, with the wireless charging kit to be made available a week later after the smartphone gets launched. The battery capacity is also confirmed to be 2,600 mAh, which would seem quite normal considering Samsung is expected to use the octa-core Exynos processor in their next flagship device and a Full HD AMOLED display, all of which will need a bigger battery than the 2,100 mAh battery of the Galaxy S3.
So there you go, that’s the latest scoop on the Galaxy S4, which is no doubt going to be one of the most talked about device this year accompanied by Samsung’s usual marketing bang. Samsung is expected to hold an unpacked event at the MWC or in March to officially unveil the Galaxy S4, but until then, we’ll be grabbing to any other unofficial info that may get leaked.
Who’s getting even more excited about Samsung’s “next big thing” as the days go by? I know I am.
