Trust Samsung to come up with something revolutionary in their products. And if that product happens to be part of perhaps the most acclaimed lineup in the history of smartphones, all the more so.
While we already know that the Korean giant is hard at work on its next flagship device in the Galaxy smartphone lineup — the Galaxy S4. It was rumored that Samsung might have been looking at a release date somewhere in the first half of 2013. New reports indicate that Samsung may be accelerating that timeline and considering an April 2013 release for the Galaxy S4.
Reuters reports another interesting piece of news about the next Galaxy device, stating that Samsung may well be introducing a new breakthrough technology with the Galaxy S4, in the form of an unbreakable display. A UBS analyst stated that there was evidence of preparations for mass manufacturing of unbreakable plastic substrate displays at Samsung, which could be for the said unbreakable displays. The Galaxy S4 is also expected to come with a high-resolution display, possibly 1080p, a powerful quad-core processor, perhaps the Exynos Series 5 and a 13 Megapixel camera.
Samsung is a market leader in display tech and is a major producer of OLED displays which are seen in its television panels. It is said that plastic material can replace the glass substrate found in OLED panels, giving way to unbreakable displays. Given Samsung’s expertise in the domain, it could well be the next step in display tech, with unbreakable and even foldable displays adorning mobile devices.
Samsung, of course, is playing it very close to its chest and has not offered any comment on the speculation. Unbreakable display or not, the Galaxy S4 is sure going to be one helluva device.
