After months of speculation and rumors, with everyone curious to find out how Samsung would surpass the Galaxy S2 with their next Galaxy flagship, the Galaxy S3 was finally officially unveiled last night in London. And Samsung didn’t disappoint, as the Galaxy S3 seems well poised to take the Galaxy S2’s place as the top dog in Samsung’s lineup. And I’m sure the S2 will gracefully step aside even though it’s still a great device in its own right.
NDTV reports that it will be making its way to Indian shores in the first week of June, just a week after its release in Europe on May 29, at an MRP of Rs. 38,000 but with market prices of around Rs. 34,000. For those waiting with their wallets ready, this is great news as they won’t have to wait long for the device to hit the Indian market.
The Galaxy S3 features a quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos 4212 Quad processor with Mali-400MP GPU, 1 GB of RAM, 16/32/64 GB of internal memory with micro SD support, a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED screen, an 8 megapixel camera capable of taking 3.3 photos in one second, with 1080p video recording + a 1.9 megapixel front facing camera, a 2100 mAh battery and of course, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI laid on top.
With the Exynos processor obliterating all other devices in synthetic benchmarks, the Galaxy S3 is one powerful device. And apart from the hardware, the S3 also comes with intuitive software features such as smart eye tracking, floating videos (which let you watch videos while doing other things on the phone), S-Voice voice recognition system, and more.
Picking up the Galaxy S3 when it comes out or did it not impress you enough to warrant a purchase? Let us know in the comments.
