April 30, 2019: Samsung Galaxy On8, known elsewhere as the Galaxy J8, has a ready update to Android 9 Pie with One UI in India. The update is rolling out as version J810GDDU2BSD5 and tags along the latest April 2019 security patch.
The update is airborne, meaning it will take several days before On8 units get the download notification, so some patience will be required.

Samsung Galaxy On8 2018 received the update to Android 9 Pie with One UI on top towards the end of April. As for the original model, there is no update to Android Oreo, leave alone Pie.
