Samsung is a leader in the smartphone business, but it has found it hard to replicate this success in the wearables market where companies such as Xiaomi and Huawei are ahead of the pack. The company has released a couple of smartwatches in the recent past, but it doesn’t seem to be doing it any favors.
Back in 2017, the Galaxy Fit 2 Pro was announced, but the $200 price tag meant the fitness band never drew the popularity Samsung would have wanted. Xiaomi, on the other hand, is making it big in the wearables market thanks to its affordable pricing for devices that offer great value, among them the Mi Band 3 that is making waves across the globe thanks to its price tag of about $30.
As a result, Samsung has changed tact and this time is focusing on the budget segment of the wearables with what look like toned-down versions of the Galaxy Fit 2 Pro. Simply known as Samsung Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e, one of these fitness bands – the former – came to life at the MWC 2019 and is in many ways the ideal gadget for fitness freaks. Still, we have details of both fitness bands and we’ll be sharing everything right below.
Let’s check out the specs.

Design-wise, the Galaxy Fit and Fit e are look alike, but differences creep in when you start digging deeper. For instance, the two have different display sizes and qualities, the application processor is weaker on the Fit e and so is the memory, you also get a smaller battery on the Fit e as well as miss out on the gyroscope sensor. As for the rest, you are getting mostly the same device as the superior Galaxy Fit.
Both devices are compatible with Samsung Galaxy, Android 5.0 or above with more than 1.5GB RAM, iPhone 5 and above, iOS 9.0 or above. You also get features like Bluetooth LE, heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope (Fit), NFC wireless charging (Fit), Pogo charging (Fit e), 5ATM water resistance, MIL-STD 810G, etc.
Light and attractive
As noted earlier, the Galaxy Fit and Fit e are built with the price sensitive buyer in mind. That said, don’t expect to come across a premium build akin to the Galaxy Fit 2 Pro, hence the lightweight nature of the duo.
The Fit weighs just 24 grams while the Fit e comes in at 15 grams, including the strap. There is a cheap-looking rubber band and as usual, the typical fitness features that any enthusiast would want in such a device are also available.
If that’s not enough to turn heads, Samsung has some cool paint jobs for the two fitness bands, where the Galaxy Fit gets two colors of Silver and Black whereas the Fit e keeps the Black finish, swaps Silver with White and further gets a third Yellow color, much like what you see on the Galaxy S10e.
Samsung Galaxy Fit pricing and availability
Samsung didn’t detail out the pricing info of the Galaxy Fit and Fit e. But as pointed out, these are budget fitness bands, with the former expected to exchange hands at about $100 while the latter will be even cheaper at $50.
As for availability, the Galaxy Fit will begin selling in the U.S. in Q2 2019, but we don’t know whether it will be accompanied by the Fit e.
