A new rumor flowing out of China — coming from a fairly well trusted source, mmddj_china — has it on record that Samsung has ready to launch the Galaxy C8 pretty soon. And by soon, the rumors means September 7, only 8 days from today.
The Galaxy C8 is said to be identified by model no. SM-C7100. While this model no. is not exactly new, as we have been treating this one as Galaxy C7 2017. Given that SM-C7000 was Galaxy C7, it seemed logical, and quite illogical of Samsung to name is Galaxy C8, unless Samsung seems to think that Galaxy C7 was not received well the market, and a change in name would give the C7 successor a fresh view.
We know a more than a bit about the Galaxy C8 then, already. Thanks to its leaks over at Geekbench, GFXbench and TENAA, we know that it is powered by a certain Helio P20 (MT6757) chipset (a variant could use Samsung’s own new Exynos 7872 chipset), 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

Besides that, the Galaxy C8 would feature a dual camera at back housing 13MP+5MP combo, assisted by a 16MP front camera on the front. The Galaxy is said to sport a 5.5-inch display measuring resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD), while it would be pretty slim at 7.9mm of thickness, weighing in a bit more than usual at about 178 grams.
Samsung could release the Galaxy C8 with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS pre-installed, but an Android 8.0 Oreo update would on the cards, although the Oreo OTA could take its time showing up. Given the lack of support for recent Samsung devices on the custom ROM front, it is hard to say Galaxy C8 will enjoy LineageOS 15 support soon after its release.
