Samsung has started updating its Galaxy Ace budget phone to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread in limited countries right now — Russia and Poland. But that it’s begun, expect the update to hit soon the other parts of the world wherever the signs of living Galaxy Ace, S5830, is found by the Samsung’s update software Kies. If you’re living in the above-mentioned countries, open Kies, connect phone and hit the ‘check for updates’ button — should you be lucky, you’ll be updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread from pre-installed Android 2.2 Froyo in no time. Depending on your region, update;s name could be either of XXJPE or XWKPF, but that’s not the area of concern as long as it installs Android 2.3.3 — almost the latest version of Android for phones, after Android 2.3.4.
Samsung is really putting the likes of HTC And Motorola to shame with this — they have just begun updating their entry-level Galaxy Ace android phone to gingerbread when Motorola and HTC are struggling to update their high-end devices to the same Android OS version. HTC made fun of itself when it reported that they will somehow manage to update their Desire to Android 2.3, which was just a day after the Company said they won’t be updating the Desire to gingerbread. And Motorola why on Earth you did update Atrix — Moto’s flagship device this year — to Android 2.3 (which they’ll be doing soon now, though).
Galaxy Ace Gingerbread leaks have been leaked for some time now and thus the official update is really no surprise. Speaking of leaks,Samsung’s Galaxy S and Galaxy S 2 have already got Android 2.3.4 via leaks (XXJVQ for GS i9000 and XXKG1 for GS2 i9100). Sure, Samsung’s software team is proving a as a benchmark for similar divisions at other manufacturers like LG, HTC and Motorola.
