Samsung is expected to begin rolling out Android 9 Pie update to the Galaxy A8 Plus in the coming weeks, but until then, users of the device can make do with a new Android security patch for the month of February 2019.
The security update is arriving as software version A730FXXS4BSA8 and so far it has been spotted in Trinidad & Tobago and Panama, but other regions should join the party pretty soon. The update is based on Oreo, but as noted, Pie is on the horizon.
Besides the new security patch level, the update should also fix persistent bugs and errors as well as improve the general system stability of the A8+. We expect this same update to come soon to the standard A8 2018, too.
Galaxy A8 Plus users should expect an OTA update to arrive anytime from now, but it may take time before all units actually get the download notification. Don’t fret, this is just how it is with OTA updates.
If waiting is a problem for you, try forcing the update via the device’s Settings menu and find the System update option to check for the update manually.
