Even though LineageOS 15.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo is already available for a handful of devices, including Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, those using the Galaxy A5 2017 can only make do with the previous version of the popular custom ROM.
If you own a Galaxy A5 2017 and are fed up with Samsung’s Experience UI that runs on top of Android, you’ll be glad to learn that LineageOS 14.1 is now available for downloading. One little problem, though.

In case you didn’t know, the 2017 Galaxy A5 is already receiving Android Oreo in Europe and the update should be spreading to other regions in the coming weeks. Now, LineageOS 14.1 is based on Android 7.1 Nougat, an older OS. Still, the good side of this custom ROM is that you get to enjoy an entirely new experience on your A5 2017.
