Samsung Buds might be coming soon to rival Huawei’s Freebuds 2 Pro and Apple’s AirPods

Trademark Samsung Buds

Samsung might be working on a fresh take on Apple’s AirPods. A new trademark application for something called Samsung Buds was filed by the company at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) last week.

Samsung already has a lineup of wireless earbuds, which it sells under the Gear Icon branding. So does this mean, the Korean tech giant is planning a new lineup of audio accessories? It could be.

The Samsung Buds name makes us instantly think of the Pixel Buds which Google unveiled during the Pixel 2 event last year. These are earphones that rely on the power of the Google Assistant. So we could speculate that Samsung’s Buds might come equipped with Bixby out of the box, as well.

To be fair, we don’t know anything for sure at the moment, and indeed it’s very possible that the product will hit the market under a totally different name.

Samsung currently ships a premium of AKG earphones with all of its flagship smartphones. But perhaps for the Galaxy S10 launch, the company is planning something grander? Maybe inspired by Huawei’s upcoming Freebuds 2 Pro, Samsung is also cooking up a new pair of unique headphones.

Huawei’s Freebuds 2 Pro leaked last week with a unique functionality. Apparently, users will be able to charge them by placing them on the back of the Huawei Mate 20. So perhaps Samsung is looking to do something similar? We can’t know for sure at this point, but we’ll keep you posted once we know more.
