Samsung might be doing a really bad job in rolling out major software updates, but the Korean company is definitely having a good spell as far as rolling out monthly security updates are concerned. What’s even more interesting is how the company keeps rolling out timely security patches to older budget phones, but this is necessary considering such updates are the best these handsets can get.
We are talking devices like the Galaxy On5 Pro, Galaxy J2 Pro, and even the entry-level Galaxy J1 Mini Prime. As of this writing, the trio is getting the latest April 2018 security patch, even ahead of their flagship counterparts, including the Galaxy S9 and S9+.
While we don’t have full changelogs, Samsung has already published the release notes with all the details that you need to know about April’s security updates.
Note that these updates are rolling out over the air and thus it’ll take days before all units of the handsets get the OTA notification. If you are using the Galaxy On5 Pro, watch out for an update with software version G550FYXXU1CRC2 and if using the Galaxy J2 Pro, the update has software version J210FXXU0ARC7. Those on the Galaxy J1 Mini Prime are getting an update with software version J106FJVU0ARC4.
